LA2028

Every four years the Olympic summer and winter games transform the world with their grace and competition in venues that make a tremendous and measurable impact on the communities who host their matches.

Los Angeles will be hosting the XXXIV Summer Olympic games in 2028, the first summer games hosted in the United States since Atlanta in 1996 and the Winter Games in Salt Lake City in 2002.

The Games, to be held between July 21, 2028 and August 6, 2028, will be funded by a combination of philanthropy, domestic sponsorships, ticketing, licensing, and $1.8 billion in funding from the International Olympic Committee.  The structure overseeing the funding is a private non-profit organization, known as LA2028.

American organizers of the Games have promised a completely privately funded Olympiad.  The host city of Los Angeles and the state of California have both pledged to be “financial backstops” for the Games, if needed.

The promise:  LA is “Creating the games together.”

Funding Objective

$6.88 billion

LA2028 will have a big impact on issues such as transportation, housing, communications, small business operations, hospitality, workforce education, social services, and so many more sectors of the local, state, and even federal economies.

A volunteer board of directors, with very impressive credentials and experiences, has already been assembled for the LA Games.

These are the third Summer Olympic games that Los Angeles will have hosted.  Only two other cities in the world have or will have hosted three Summer Olympic Games: London and Paris.  Experience counts here, too, in that this will be the United States’ fifth Summer Games (St. Louis and Atlanta in addition to three LA games) and ninth Olympic games (Summer and Winter) combined.
